St. Louis Cardinals Scratch Adam Wainwright From Last Start of the Season
The St. Louis Cardinals have scratched starter Adam Wainwright for his last start of the year and is likely done for the rest of the season. His last start was scheduled this Thursday against the Colorado Rockies.
He has been experiencing discomfort in his arm for the past two games but has been able to push through it and play – well at that. In those two games, he has pitched 14 innings allowing only two runs during that time. However, in his start Friday, which was his 20th win this year, the discomfort was a little bit worse. This is when an MRI date was set. Wainwright apparently has a muscle strain in his right forearm, according to MRI results from an MRI that the 29-year-old underwent on Monday.
Wainwright finished the season with an earned run average of 2.42 and 20-11. He is also third ranked in strikeouts with 213. Wainwright is ultimately expected to finish among the top three of the CY Young for the National League.
