Preliminary Switzerland and Spain Rosters for World Cup Announced
The preliminary rosters for Switzerland as well as Spain have been announced. 23 of the men from each team will take a trip to beautiful South Africa next month and compete for the World Cup title championship. Spain and Switzerland will compete in their opening game on June 16. See the preliminary rosters for both teams below.
Spain goalkeepers include Victor Valdes from Barcelona, Pepe Reina from Liverpool, Diego Lopez from Villarreal, David De Gea from Atletico Madrid and Iker Casillas from Real Madrid.
Forwards for Spain include David Villa from Valencia, Fernando Torres from Liverpool, Alvaro Negredo from Sevilla, Fernando Llorente from Athletic Bilbao, Dani Guiza from Fenerbache, Pedro Rodriguez from Barcelona, Juan Mata from Valencia, Jesus Navas from Sevilla, and Santi Cazorla from Villarreal.
Spain defenders include Sergio Ramos from Real Madrid, Carles Puyol from Barcelona, Gerard Pique from Barcelona, Carlos Marchena from Valencia, Joan Capdevila from Villarreal, Cesar Azpilicueta from Osasuna, Alvaro Arbeloa from Real Madrid and Raul Albiol from Real Madrid.
Midfielders for Spain include Xavi Hernandez from Barcelona, David Silva from Valencia, Marcos Senna from Villarreal, Javier Martinez from Athletic Bilbao, Andres Iniesta from Barcelona, Cesc Fabregas from Arsenal, Sergio Busquets from Barcelona and Xabi Alonso from Real Madrid.
The roster for Switzerland:
Goalkeepers include Marco Woelfli from Young Boys, Johnny Leoni from Zurich and Diego Benaglio from Wolfsburg.
Forwards include Marco Streller from FC Basel, Hakan Yakin from Lucerne, Eren Derdiyok from Bayer Leverkusen, Blaise Nkufo from FC Twente and Alex Frei from FC Basel.
Defenders for Switzerland are Reto Ziegler from Sampdoria, Christoph Spycher from Eintracht Frankfurt, Mario Eggimann from Hannover, Philippe Senderos from Arsenal, Steve Von Bergen from Hertha Berlin, Stephane Grichting from Auxerre and Stephan Lichtsteiner from Lazio.
