Brian Schneider, backup catcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, was first put on the 15-day disabled list on the 9th of this month (May) due to an injury to his left Achilles tendon that he incurred during the game against Atlanta, which the Phillies lost 4-1.  He was to appear at a series of rehab sessions with AAA Lehigh Valley before being able to return to the Phillies lineup.

33-year-old Schneider has now finished his series of rehab sessions with AAA Lehigh Valley and has been activated by the Phillies on Monday.  He was 0 for 8 among one walk during his time at AAA.  Prior to being put on the 15-day DL, he had a .167 batting average with a total of three scored runs and two walks with Philadelphia this season.

In order for the Phillies to devise room on their 25-man active roster, the Phillies decided to designate Paul Hoover for assignment.  Hoover has a batting average of .278 with six scored runs, two RBI’s and two doubles in the six games for Philadelphia.
