Nigeria 23-man Final World Cup Roster Announced

Nigeria has announced their final World Cup roster consisting of 23-man – a 7 man cut from the initial 30 man preliminary roster made last month.  Nigeria will open up against Argentina for the 2010 World Cup in Johannesburg, South Africa, on June 12.

Below is the final 23-man roster for Nigeria.

Goalkeepers include Vincent Enyeama from Hapoel Tel Aviv, Austin Ejide from Hapoel Petah Tikvah, and Dele Aiyenugba from Bnei Yehuda.

Defenders include Joseph Yobo from Everton, Taye Taiwo from Olympique Marseille, Danny Shittu from Bolton Wanderers, Chidi Odiah from CSKA Moscow, Elderson Echiejile from Stade Rennes, Rabiu Afolabi from Red Bull Salzburg, and Dele Adeleye from Sparta Rotterdam.

Midfielders include John Utaka from Portsmouth, Kalu Uche from Almeria, John Obi Mikel from Chelsea, Haruna Lukman from Monaco, Nwankwo Kanu from Portsmouth, Sani Kaita from Alania Vladikavhaz, Dickson Etuhu from Fulham, and Yusuf Ayila from Dynamo Kiev.

Strikers include Peter Odemwingie from Lokomotiv Moscow, Chinedu Obasi from Hoffenheim, Obinna Nsofor from Malaga, Obafemi Martins from VFL Wolfsburg, and Yakubu Aiyegbeni from Everton.
